Research + Advocacy
We also conduct public policy research.
The Research + Advocacy arm of URBAN FACTORS confronts important public policy questions with deep research, working with professional colleagues around the world to establish a body of detailed knowledge and expertise to facilitate better outcomes for existing and future developments.
-
In concert with affordable-housing policy makers, consultants, developers, and architects in France, Switzerland, Germany, and elsewhere in Europe, URBAN FACTORS is conducting research + investigations into better systems for financing, development, and construction of low-income housing.
The goal is to identify projects and programs for development of low-income housing that costs less to build, is built with high-quality materials designed for improved + durable results that will outlast mortgage + depreciation cycles, sustainably addresses heat gain, loss, water usage + electricity demands, fits appropriately + respectfully in its urban context and is actually affordable to those with limited + low incomes.
-
In cooperation with other disability + accessibility organizations, URBAN FACTORS is working to enhance aging-in-place efforts by reforming legislation to permit elevators to be installed in yards, courts, and interiors of pre-WWII residential buildings.
-
URBAN FACTORS is working to establish a video archive of interviews by experts working with us on our research + advocacy initiatives.
